Cabinet door FAQ

Questions everyone asks before ordering.

Standard MDF cabinet doors ship in ~12 days from order approval. Factory-primed adds 2 weeks. Premium veneer (vacuum-pressed real wood) runs ~4 weeks because of the additional pressing and finishing time. Rush orders are possible — call (705) 652-3520 to discuss.

Yes. We ship to every postal code in Canada from our Douro, Ontario shop. Local pickup is available Monday to Friday for the GTA, Peterborough, and the Kawarthas — a lot of contractors and refinishers within 2 hours of us pick up directly to skip freight charges and transit damage.

Yes — every cabinet door is made-to-your-spec to the 1/16″. 24 5/8" wide is the same square foot price as 24". No standard catalogue and no upcharge for non-standard sizes. We also cut angled doors for sloped ceilings, under-stair fits, and awkward triangular openings.

Three stages: raw (you sand and finish), factory-primed (we apply a two-coat catalyzed sealer in our spray booth — ready for the top coat), or fully finished (we apply your specified colour or clearcoat on our finishing line). We do not ship products with a final finish on it, only pick up or local delivery.

Yes. We make custom replacement doors sized exactly to IKEA SEKTION (and the older AKURUM) cabinet boxes — raw or primed, in 30+ door styles. Common widths are 12″, 15″, 18″, 21″, and 24″ — and we cut any custom width or height to go with any IKEA hacks you are doing.

Ranger Board Platinum is the MDF we use for paint-grade doors — its smooth surface takes finish beautifully and resists telegraphing. Wood veneer doors use real Rift-Cut White Oak, Walnut, Maple, or Cherry over a particle board substrate. Premium Veneer uses vacuum-pressed grain-matched real-wood faces with a particle board core and solid-wood frame. Custom species available on request.

About our cabinet doors

Canada’s premier source for custom cabinet doors and drawer fronts.

Elevate your space with precision-crafted cabinet doors

Custom cabinet doors give homeowners and builders the chance to personalize a space with precision and style. Whether it’s a kitchen, bath, office, or closet, well-made door fronts bring cohesion and functionality to any room. Built from premium MDF or real-wood veneer, each piece is sized to match the existing cabinetry, hardware, and hinges — so a traditional kitchen can be transformed with new fronts in rich materials and classic detailing without rebuilding a single box.

At Varcroft & Bianco, we make Canadian-made, ready-to-paint cabinet doors for kitchens, baths, offices, and beyond. Our work is about material integrity and architectural simplicity — every panel becomes an anchor in your interior, not just a swap-out part.

Materials & construction — quality matters

Our door fronts are made in Ontario, Canada from select materials, each chosen for a specific performance. Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) has a smooth, stable surface for precision milling and painted finishes. Wood veneer brings the authenticity of natural grain for staining or clearcoat. Our veneer line includes Rift Cut White Oak, Walnut, Maple, and Cherry, with custom species available on request. We also build matching drawer fronts, end panels, and toe-kicks so the entire cabinetry program reads as one cohesive system.

Factory-primed for a flawless finish

Our factory-priming option delivers a smooth, professional finish right out of the box — saving hours of prep work. Primed MDF fronts arrive ready for your top colour coat, letting you skip the scuff-sanding and the three-coats-of-primer ritual that eats up a weekend.

Homeowners save time and labour, reduce cleanup, and avoid common issues like brush marks or uneven coverage. For trade pros, factory priming removes bottlenecks in your shop and speeds up project timelines — from custom kitchens to large-scale installations, primed doors shorten the process without sacrificing the high-end finish your clients expect.

Benefits of custom kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors

The biggest benefit of made-to-spec millwork is versatility — any size, dozens of door styles, and a range of materials to match your taste. From coordinating drawer fronts to integrating across whole cabinetry systems, custom-built fronts give you consistency and functionality in equal measure. Whether you’re optimizing a kitchen layout, adding sophistication to a bath, or organizing a home office, made-to-order doors let you balance aesthetic cohesion with personal expression.

Installation, assembly & ongoing maintenance

Installing custom door fronts takes precision and a bit of patience. Prep the work area, follow the assembly instructions, use quality hardware and hinges, and your new fronts will sit structurally sound and properly aligned. Optional features like soft-close mechanisms or concealed hinges raise the bar further. Professional installation is recommended for complex or large kitchen projects.

Maintain the aesthetic and structural integrity of your fronts with a simple routine. Non-abrasive cleaners and soft cloths are all that’s needed to clean wood surfaces without damage. Periodic inspections help you spot wear early and protect longevity — a twice-a-year maintenance routine keeps your cabinet doors performing and looking sharp for years to come.
